International Falls Mayor Reacts To Layoffs

The mayor of International Falls feels his city will be facing some tough times ahead.
The Boise Mill announced yesterday the closure of two paper machines, resulting in the loss of 265 jobs.
Bob Anderson says until now, they had escaped any major job loss at its main employer.
Anderson says it’s time for community leaders to come together to do what they can to ensure the protection of the mill’s remaining jobs.
He says roughly 500-jobs remain.
Anderson notes the task now will be looking at ways to diversify the local economy.
Anderson feels the impact of the layoffs will be felt on both sides of the border.
