Ernest Lippert

After a courageous and painful battle with heart failure Ernest Lippert went to the Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the Dryden Regional Health Center with his loving wife Lucy at his side. Ernest was attended to by dedicated Emergency Room staff and doctors. Ernest will be sadly missed by his wife Lucy and their only son Emil and wife Donelda. He was especially close to his grandsons Corbin and Ryan and grandchildren Emma and Jackson, and is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins and extended family. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Ed and Louisa Lippert, brothers: John and Edward and sisters: Lena and Frieda. Born in Sochocin, Poland April 7, 1920, Ernest immigrated to Canada in 1939 and worked as a bush cutter, homesteader, trapper and a guide at Lipperts Brown Bay Camp in Dinorwic. In later years he moved his family to Barclay and at Emile Corner ran a small but successful farm in his spare time while working on construction of the new Woodroom at Dryden Paper Company, until his retirement in June of 1981. “Ernie”, as he was best known, was a respected member of the 25 Year Club and enjoyed the fellowship of gatherings of his friends. He was known as a hard worker and was famous for building quality houses and was respected as a landlord. Ernie’s loves were “big gardens”: he and Lucy were famous for their apple trees and grape vines, and racing pigeons, many of which are now in aviaries across several provinces. He will always be known for welcoming friends and strangers to his yard, his gardens and shops and no one was left without a tour. If there’s a heaven for Ford tractors, we know that we’ll find Ernie at work there, because that is the man he was. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Saviour Lutheran Church with his nephew Mr. Ralph Arndt, officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery. Should friends desire donations to the Dryden Regional Health Center Equipment Fund may be made through the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel”, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1.
