ETFO Continues Efforts To Secure New Contract

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario is accusing the provincial government and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association of bargaining in bad faith.

Its filed a complaint with the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

ETFO says the province and school boards refusal to continue contact talks unless the union agrees to elements of a tentative deal signed by high school teachers is a violation under the Collective Bargaining Act to bargain in good faith.

Meantime, the union says it’s been waiting to return to the bargaining table for weeks.

Education Minister Liz Sandals has called for a resumption in talks.

She’s also asking the union to reconsider its plans to rotating strikes next month.
