The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is suspending its advice for members not to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Local President Anne Saltel says they will be meeting in Toronto next week to disucss more.
ETFO President Sam Hammond says the extracurricular ban is being lifted in light of progress made in talks with the government.
Hammond the talks will continue and ETFO is confident that the government has demonstrated a commitment to dealing with concrete items of importance to its members.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says she’s with the union’s move and hopes teachers and support staff will return to participating in afterschool activities and programs.
In a statement, Wynne calls it a great indication of “the hard work all parties are putting into the repair of this valued relationship.”
The teachers withdrew from extracurricular activities to protest legislation that was used to force a contract on them in January.
