Planning for Dryden’s future.
Mayor Craig Nuttall has been invited to the Darlington Waste Management Facility in Southern Ontario to learn more about nuclear waste and a possible site in Ignace.
The trip will be completley paid for by the facility, and Nuttall adds there’s no cost to the city.
Nuttall says he wants to learn more about the economic impact such a project would have on Dryden since we are so close to Igance.
However, 21 other municipalities are also looking at the possibility of having a nuclear waste site, and Nuttall says this trip is for pure informational purposes.
The topic stirred up some commotion with some who say there’s no real point that the Mayor attend, especially if it’s not even coming to the city.
Nuttall responds by saying that while the project may not come to the area for 40-years, it’s important that we prepare for the future of Dryden.
He points out that a nuclear waste plant could create about 12-hundred jobs.
