Evacuations Continue

The evacuation of residents continues as wildfires continue to burn across the Far North.
Another 1,615 people from Sandy Lake First Nation, Kingfisher and Wunnumin Lake were scheduled to be relocated to Moosonee and Ottawa late Wednesday.
That brings the total number of evacuees from raging forest fires to 3,615, with 144 currently in Dryden.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford says he’s been impressed with the work of the Ministry of Natural Resources and emergency officials.
The Ministry of Natural Resources stresses the evacuation plan is complex because only aircraft can reach most communities and its starting to get challenging to find host centres that can accommodate the numbers.
