Evacuees return to Fort Hope

About 255 evacuees from the Fort Hope First Nation are returning to their community today.

The elderly and some young children were evacuated earlier this week due to smoke from a nearby fire.

Fire Information Officer, Debbie Mclean says crews have made good progress on the 800 hectare blaze over the past few days.

McLean adds that there were four new wildfires reported in the northwest region yesterday, including two in the Sioux Lookout District, and one in Kenora.
