Fort Hope Evacuees return home

The Ministry of Natural Resources says residents of the Fort Hope First Nation, who were evacuated earlier this week, can start returning home today.

A number of elderly and young children from the remote community were flown out earlier this week due to heavy smoke coming from a nearby forest fire.

Fire Information Officer Debbie Mclean says while the fire is still out of control, it no longer poses a threat to the community.

McLean adds that there were four new wildfires reported in the region yesterday. One was lightning caused, the others were the result of human activity.
