Expansion Plans For Sioux Lookout Airport

Sioux Lookout has received $8.4-million in funding for a new airport terminal.

Kenora MP Greg Rickford and Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle made the joint announcement Thursday.

Airport Manager Ben Hancharuk says the expansion is long overdue.

He notes the current configuration is built for 55,000 passengers a year and they are now averaging a total of 120,000.

Hancharuk says the new and improved terminal will open the door to new business and expansion opportunities for the airport and the community.

He says the announcement is good for everybody, noting it will result in enhanced accessibility.
