Domtar Second Quarter Earnings

Some strong operational results on the pulp and paper side have resulted in encouraging numbers for Domtar.

The company has posted second quarter earnings of $38-million, compared to $40-million this time last year.

Sales for the quarter were $1.3-billion.

President John Williams says their operations ran well despite a seasonally high level of scheduled maintenance at their mills.

Williams says their pulp and paper business performed largely in-line with expectations and their paper shipments are outperforming projections.
