2016 is a leap year, but local students won’t have to go to school on February 29th.
Instead, school boards across the entire Kenora district have declared the Monday a Professional Development Day.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says it met with the other five school boards in the region and agreed to the change to the school calendar this year.
The new PD day is being mandated by regulations introduced by the Ministry of Education.
