From the Manitoba border across our district, an Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for Christmas Day that is likely to remain through Boxing Day and possibly beyond.
Enviroment Canada says overnight lows of -35 and windchills of -45 are likely.
At noon Christmas Day, the temperature in Dryden was -31 with a windchill of -44.
Similar conditions are putting a chill on the holiday in Kenora, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances and as far as Thunder Bay.
Anyone travelling is reminded to bring warm clothing, blankets and other emergency supplies in case of a mishap.
