Extreme Cold Warning In Place

An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for much of northwestern Ontario.

Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says a deep pool of Arctic Air will push temperatures deep below -30, -40 with the wind chill.

Laidlaw says the system isn’t going anywhere until at least Saturday.

He says there will be clear skies at night, stressing it’s a dry air mass.

Laidlaw notes there is some warm air that is trying to push in from the southwest, so we will be facing strong winds over the next couple of days.

Laidlaw adds that right now there is an elevated risk of frost bite and hypothermia.
