The Federal Government has backed away from it’s 160
million dollar commitment to preserve aboriginal language.
Claudette Commanda is the Executive Director of the
First Nation Confederacy of Cultural Centres.
Commanda says the funding dates back to 2002, when 172.5
million dollars was announced for language programming.

first nation communities across the country are encouraged
to lobby the government for the return and an increase in
funding.
