It was so strong it sandblasted the bark off trees and tossed homes
around as if they were toys.
Environment Canada confirms that the tornado that struck the tiny
community of Elie, Manitoba, on June 22 was the most powerful in Canadian
history.
The agency says amateur videotape of the twister indicate the
tornado packed winds of more than 400 kilometres an hour.
It was strong enough to qualify as Canada’s first-ever F5 tornado
on the international rating scale.
