The Dryden Area Family Health Team is boasting about its involvement in a ground breaking Heart and Stroke Foundation Program.
The Team is currently involved in the Hypertension Management Program to control high blood pressure.
The program helps Health Care providers with education and tools to control a patients blood pressure.
The 3-year demonstration phase is taking place in 11-Ontario communities.
Family Health Team Manager Katherine Campbell says the initiative has been well received.
Campbell says patients responded well, with a significant drop in high blood pressure.
Campbell adds they were able to adapt this protocol to the diagnosis and early treatment of other chronic conditions such as diabetes.
She notes the initiative is on-going, with free blood pressure checks every Tuesday at the Family Health Team office.
