2-people are dead following a fiery crash on Highway 17, about
8-kilometres west of Vermilion Bay.
OPP say an eastbound tractor-trailer unit collided head-on with a
westbound transport around 5 o’clock Monday morning.
Police say both vehicles were totally destroyed as a result of the
crash and subsequent fire and neither driver survived.
The collision closed the Trans-Canada for 13 hours leaving hundreds of travelers who were headed home from the holiday weekend stranded.
The identity of the victims is being withheld pending notification of
next of kin and OPP continue to investigate the cause.
