The number of people killed on highways across northwestern Ontario is on the rise.
The Provincial Police say a total of 27 people have died on area roads this year, the most there has been in the past four years.
In specific numbers, Sergeant Shelly Garr says inattentive drivers resulted in four deaths in 2016 and six in 2017.
Seatbelt related deaths were two in 2016 and six last year.
Garr says the number of fatalities caused by motorists going too fast or alcohol or drug related where down, but only slightly.
