The cause of Tuesday’s fatal house fire in Pikangikum First Nation remains under investigation.
The regional coroner, the Ontario Fire Marshals office and the OPP are all involved.
At least nine people died in the blaze, with reports stating three of the victims were under the age of 5.
The victims are believed to be from the same family.
Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler says they are shocked and doing everything they can to help individuals cope.
Fiddler admits the event is overwhelming.
He says he has called Chief Owen to offer support and says NAN is on stand-by to help in any way.
Meantime, the Dryden Fire Service is sending out its thoughts and prayers to the community of Pikangikum.
Officials say the loss of lives and injuries by fire, unfortunately continues daily in Canada.
The Fire Service says the best way to keep families and homes safe is prevention, detection and having an escape plan in place.
Officials are also stressing the importance of having working smoke alarms.
