The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is now seeking comment on a Comprehensive Study Report on the Hammond Reef Gold project near Atikokan.
Written comments can be sent to HammondReef@ceaa-acee.gc.ca until August 30th.
Right now the federal agency doesn’t see any significant adverse effect to the environment.
It also notes managing company Agnico Eagle is doing a good job working with the area’s Indigenous population and First Nations communities, including Wabigoon.
Project Manager Bud Dickson says they are still waiting for comment from the province on its side of the E-A process.
Meantime, Dickson says while they wait for approval, the company is pouring over data gathered on the deposit.
He says they hope to have a really good grasp of the deposit in late 2019.
