Federal Funding For New Water Treatment Plant In Neskantaga First Nation

Kenora MP Bob Nault says the federal government has made a major investment to end the longest standing boil water advisory in Canada.

Nault is pledging $8.8-million to help upgrade the water treatment plant in Neskantaga First Nation, about 180-kilometres northeast of Pickle Lake.

He notes for 22-years, residents of the remote northern community have had to worry about the water they bathe in and the water they drink.

Nault stresses the funding will put an end to that stress.

The project is expected to be completed by next Spring.
