Federal Health Minister Tony Clement will be in Thunder Bay on Monday with 14.7-millions dollars in funding.
He is coming up with the money from FedNor for the Molecular Medicine Research Centre.
The centre, which should be operational by this fall, already has millions of dollars in commitments from the city, province and Philips Medical Solutions.
Research at the M-M-R-C will focus on creating biomarkers that will work with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to diagnose cancer and heart disease at their earliest stages.
