FedNor Investment Helps To Improve Costs and Access To Quality Foods In Isolated Communities

Sioux Lookout, Big Trout Lake First Nation and Lac Seul First Nation are getting a boost from FedNor.
FedNor Minister Greg Rickford says $83,000 will go towards a study to understand the feasibility of setting up a regional distribution facility for food and consumer goods.
He says the study will help with chipping away at the costs and quality issues for food that isolated communities face.
Rickford says the study will look at a couple of key challenges such as, what kind of infrastructure is needed, who the business partners prospectively could be and what specific food products and other consumer goods would be beneficial to start with.
There is no timeline on how long the study will take, but Rickford notes it shouldn’t take long.
Rickford made the announcement on Friday in Sioux Lookout.
