Fee Waive Request Turned Down

The Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services is asking the City of Dryden to reimburse building fees and waive further building permits for its affordable housing project at the old Weyerhaeuser Learning Centre site.
The City is not granting the group’s request.
Building and Planning Manager Bob Cunningham says the request is very uncommon and doesn’t anticipate any setbacks with Council’s decision.
The Housing Services says it would have saved $450,000 if it selected London, Ontario instead of Dryden as that City provides cash grants of $15,000 per unit in addition to waiving fees
The group says its investing $4.8-million in the project.
