Dryden has experienced a decline in its immigrant population over the
last 5-years according to the new census.
The number of immigrants who lived in the community decreased from
590 to 430 between 2001 and 2006.
The figures show that about 1 out of every 19 resident was born in
another country.
115 Dryden residents were born in the United Kingdom.
English remains the dominate language in Dryden at 94%.
French is the mother tongue of about 2.6% of people in the
community.
The immigrant population also dropped significantly in Red Lake,
Sioux Lookout, Kenora and Machin.
It jumped 16.7% in Ear Falls and remained the same in Ignace.
