A new $70-million plywood mill is being planned for Atikokan.
Project manager Mike Shusterman says the plant, which will create 180
jobs, is to be up and running some time in 2008.
Shusterman says the plant is to be Canadian-owned but driven to a large
extent by a U.S. investor that will be in charge of sales to the American
midwest market.
The mill will produce `long-beam plywood’ for the housing industry,
especially in the building of modular homes that can be shipped in pieces.
