Financing Needed for Nursing Program

The concept of a proposed Nursing Program is being supported by the
City of Dryden, however not the attached funding requirements.
Confederation College and Lakehead University are attempting to
launch the program this Fall in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Kenora and Fort Frances.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowsky says each municipality is being asked to
give $25,000 a year for 4-years, a request they can’t facilitate.
Krassilowksy says the City has an extremely tight budget at this
time and they will instead seek outside support and concentrate on lobbying efforts.
She stresses the program is important to ease the chronic
shortage of Nurses in the Dryden-area and needs to be financed.
Organizers are trying to secure funding from various agencies as
start-up costs are pegged around $5 million.
