As of July 1 in Ontario, an `educational grace’ period
for commercial vehicles ended as it relates to a speed limiter law.
The device, which must be included in big trucks made after 1994,
prevents them from exceeding 105 kilometres an hour.
However, say provincial police, the regulation adopted in January
makes 115 kilometres an hour the threshold for charges.
As of Wednesday, charges could be laid if an officer has proof
that a large truck was driven at or above 115 kilometres an hour.
The driver could also be charged with driving a commercial motor
vehicle not equipped with working speed-limiting system.
Fines Now Issued for Speeding Transports
