Fire at school in FF 1

The Fort Frances Fire Department and the OPP responded to a fire alarm at the St. Michael’s School in the north end on Monday.

Fire Chief Gerry Armstrong says the fire was contained to one classroom which suffered extensive damage from the blaze, while smoke damage was found throughout the building.

Armstrong said there were no injuries to firefighters at the scene, and the building was empty of students who are on holidays.

They are continuing to investigate the incident and a cost of the damage has not been reported.
