It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Emmett Thompson, beloved husband, father, and grandfather on December 23rd, 2007. Emmett was born in Minahico, Ontario on December 27th, 1930. In July of 1956 he married Elsie Mykytyn in Rainy River and it was there that they began their family. In 1972 he moved the family to Dryden to be closer to work. Emmett worked for Great Lakes Forest Products for 33 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He leaves behind his wife Elsie, their three children Sheila Fediuk (Don) of Dryden, Randy Thompson (Bev) of Sioux Lookout, and Cindy Petranik (Wade) of Dryden, and five grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson(Bruce), Christopher Fediuk (Lindsay), Marla Petranik, and Shelby and Taylor Thompson. He was predeceased by his parents Marian & Howard Thompson, and is survived by two brothers Wayne Thompson (Winnpeg, MB) and Marnie Thompson (Red River Falls, MN) and two sisters Doris Mykietowich and Ruth Predinchuk of Winnipeg MB along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held December 29th, 2007 at the Stevens Funeral Home, Dryden Ontario at 11 o’clock with Pastor Scott Jones presiding. Internment of ashes will be at a later date at a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dryden Regional Health Centre CT Scan Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society through the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel”, P.O. Box 412, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1.
