Fire Ban Lifted in Parts of Northwest

An open fire ban in the Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances Districts has been lifted.
The damp conditions has provided some relief in the southern portion of the region.
MNR Information Officer Debbie McLean says the ban is still in effect in Sioux Lookout and other Northern communities.
McLean says the public should still use extreme caution despite the ban being lifted.
Fires in the Dryden-Ignace area are considered to be well in hand with no property lost the past week.
The MNR hopes to move some of the crews to other fires in the north today.
Elsewhere…Sioux Lookout #57 is causing concerns for Pickle Lake residents as shifting winds could move the 23 thousand hectare blaze closer to the community.
Red Lake is smoke covered due to a number of remote fires north of the community.
None are close to any property and pose no threat for crews.
