Despite the Restricted Fire Zone, the number of wild fires in the region continues to grow.
Tuesday, another 16 forest fires were reported, five in the Red Lake district, four in the Sioux Lookout area, and two in the Dryden district.
Crews had to deal with two small fires northeast of Ignace and east of Dinorwic.
Most of the new starts are small in size at less than a hectare, but almost all are listed as not under control.
Conditions remain extremely dry and rain isn’t expected until Saturday.
The fire hazard remains high to extreme across the northwest.
