Fire Causes Massive Power Outage

A forest fire burning about 50-kilometres northeast of Ear Falls continues to grow in size.
The blaze is now over 4,700 hectares in size after burning throughout the night.
Ministry of Natural Resources Spokesperson Debbie MacLean says the fire has become a top priority.
MacLean says at one point they did have to pull ground crews from the area as well as evacuate a few tourists from an outpost camp in the Margaret Lake area.
She says 5-heavy waterbombers and 3-fireranger crews have been working on the fire.
Winds gusting up to 50-kilometres an hour have been causing problems.
The fire has also destroyed several power lines that feed area communities.
Hydro One says it could be Friday at the earliest when power is restored in Pickle Lake, New Osnbaurgh First Nation and Cat Lake First Nation.
Spokesperson Danielle Gauvin says crews haven’t been able to hit the ground to properly access the damage.
Gauvin says they may have to completely replace some hydro polls and lines.
The power went out around 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
Some 1,200 customers are impacted.
