Fire at the Clarion Lakeside Inn started in the basement area.
That’s according the eyewitnesses, who say flames from the blaze were able to catch a couple of vehicles in the parking lot area on fire as well.
The fire broke out around 3:30, but at this point, it’s not known if anyone was hurt.
High winds drove heavy black smoke over the lake and into the downtown area.
OPP have the Safeway Bridge and 1st Avenue in the area blocked off.
The Kenora Fire and Emergency Services Department has a number of its vehicles deployed to order to put the flames out.
