The Dryden Fire Service is getting a one day jump on Fire Prevention Week with a kick-off event at Safeway and Wal-Mart Saturday.
The public event is from 10-2 and firefighters will also be collecting donations for Muscular Dystrophy.
An open house is also being held on Wednesday at the Fire Hall.
The theme of the campaign this year is “Smoke Alarms Save Lives; Test Yours Every Month”.
Fire Chief Ken Kurz stresses you should check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms at least once a month.
Kurz says smoke alarms save lives and you should have one on each floor and near bedrooms.
He notes most alarms don’t last past 10-years.
