There is no word on the impact of Tuesday’s storm on the forest fire situation in Northwestern Ontario.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reported no new forest fires as of 5 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.
The number of active fires has once again dropped to 82, with over 598,000 hectares of forest burned.
38-of those fires are burning in the Red Lake District.
More than 2,000 firefighters from across Canada and the Northern U.S. continue to support efforts.
The MNR is reporting good progress on all of the fires but anticipate another 3-to-4 more weeks of work to contain some of the larger fires.
