Fire Season Wraps Up

Things picked up for the Ministry of Natural Resources after a quiet
forest fire season in 2004.
The official end to season is Monday and Debbie McLean says the
Northwest Region recorded 518 fires burning over 31,000 hectares.
McLean says most of the multiple fire starts occurred in July and
August when the East part of the Region was under a heat wave.
McLean says the MNR had some extreme fire behavior in the East part
of the Region, however notes thanks to crews initial attack they were able
to keep the amount of total area burned well below the 10-year average.
