Fire Situation in Northwestern Ontario

Its hot, humid and could lead to busy times for MNR fire crews!
The fire hazard is now high across the region, with some pockets experiencing extreme conditions.
Information Officer Debbie McLean says 13 new fires have sparked since Sunday.
Additional lightning caused fires are also expected in the next few days.
McLean says they are adding more resources and are on high alert!
In the Kenora area, 6 Water Bombers and more than 145 firefighters are battling a forest fire near Minaki.
It began Sunday afternoon near Catherine Lake and destroyed several cottages before jumping Highway 596.
The road remains closed.
The MNR says the fire has consumed about four-and-a-half square kilometres of forest.
Some 85 cottages were evacuated on the weekend.
