Firefighter debate rages in Fort Frances

Full-time and volunteer firefighters in Fort Frances have made their messages loud and clear to town council – do not reduce fire service by not replacing a recently retired firefighter.

Full-time firefighter Frank Sheppard believes town council is risking the lives of the very citizens they represent by going from 10 firefighters to 9.

Volunteer firefighter Bruce Roth feels hiring more volunteers is not the answer since they only function as a back-up to full-timers.

Fort Frances Mayor Dan Onichuk adds council will take another look at comments from the full-time and volunteer firefighters.
