First Nation Communities Facing Food Shortage

The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River is asking the McGuinty Government to ensure remote Northern First Nations have food and other supplies when they return home.
Howard Hampton says it appears some residents will be allowed to return home in the middle of this week but he notes the remote communities are suffering from a severe food shortage.
Several communities were hit with lengthy power outages which has spoiled food.
Hampton says most people make trips during the winter months by the ice road to get their food and stock it in the freezer.
23 communities have declared emergencies.
