Progress is being made on the so-called “Freedom Road” on the Shoal Lake #40 First Nation.
The portion on the reserve is now complete.
Kenora M.P. Bob Nault says right now the project seems to be running according to schedule.
“The final piece will be with the province of Manitoba and that’s earmarked to go on this winter and into the spring and hopefully we’ll get an announcement sometime next year in the summer.”
Nault says according to the agreement, the City of Winnipeg is reponsible for the bridge portion of the road to the mainland.
In the meantime, Friends of Shoal Lake are planning a rally at the Manitoba Legislature this afternoon to encourage all three parties to complete work on the Freedom Road.
