Five Active Fires In Northwestern Ontario

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting five active fire across the northwest region.

Three are considered not under control, while crews have a handle on two other blazes.

Four new starts were reported Thursday, two in the Kenora region and one in the Fort Frances area.

A 0.5 hectare fire is also burning near Glenn Lake, about 58-kilometres southwest of Red Lake.

The forest fire hazard is high to extreme across the southwest portion of the district.

The rest of the region has a low to moderate hazard.
