A shortage of flu vaccines in the United States has prompted some to turn their attention elsewhere.
Several Americans have contacted the Northwestern Health Unit about the availability of a flu shot.
However, Director of Health Protection Karen Essery says the vaccine is not for sale and is for Kenora and Rainy River residents only.
Essery says photo identification will be required.
The Health Unit has started to administer flu vaccines.
Essery says initially they are targeting seniors and others who are considered at risk, like children between the ages of 6 months and 23 months old.
The schedule of the flu clinics is now on-line on the Health Unit’s Web-site and they also have a new toll-free number people can call for more information.
