Flyers stil flying…..

The Sioux Flyers have been abandoned by their owner – but a local group is working on a solution to save the fledgling SIJHL team.

Sioux fans were stunned to learn that the previous team owner had thrown in the towel on Remembrance Day.

An emergency meeting was held today (Friday) with a potential Winnipeg investor attending. Richard Brozinski outlined a plan that would see the team come under community ownership. Brozinski said his level of involvement would depend on community participation at all levels, but made it clear that he saw a future for the team. Brozinski had been looking at an SIJHL expansion team for 2010, possibly in Red Lake – and was contacted Wednesday by League officials who are anxious to see the Sioux franchise saved.

After about two hours, interested local investors were asked to remain while the public and media left.

The feeling expressed by most was that the team would be on the ice in Dryden Wednesday night as scheduled.
