A forest fire moving through parts of Northwestern Ontario has forced
300 people from a remote First Nations reserve.
The evacuees, mostly the young and elderly, were flown to a sports
complex in a nearby town.
The 10-square-kilometre forest fire began Friday and was only 8
kilometres from Ebametoong at the time of the evacuations.
Provincial and local authorities are preparing for a larger-scale
evacuation from the community, 300 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay,
should it become necessary.
