Northwestern Ontario saw the brunt of the forest fire activity this past season.
The official season has come to an end and this region saw a total of 654-fires, consuming 63,017 hectares of land.
Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Information Officer Jonathan Scott says provincially there were 776-fires with 111,995 hectares burned.
Scott notes last season Ontario saw 641-fires and 83,010 hectares burned.
The ten year average is 791-fires and 104,318 burned.
Scott says in the northwest, the season started with a handful of human-caused fires that needed aggressive ground and air attack to contain.
Lightning-caused fires followed in the Summer, especially in the Far North.
