Get ready for another significant hike in gas prices.
The price for gas in northwestern Ontario right now is anywhere from 114.9 to 149.9 cents a litre.
Dan McTeague is the Senior Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy.com and he is expecting further increases.
McTeague says it’s not a case of gas stations trying to gouge customers.
He notes the benchmark price for gasoline set in Chicago is skyrocketing as a result of a pipeline disruption and concerns of supply in the U.S.
McTeague believes this could be a reflection of a new reality, stressing demand for gasoline and oil is up, while supply, although adequate, is none the less coming down.
He adds demand in the U.S. is increasing and their economy is getting stronger.
The provincial average for gasoline is 117 cents a litre.
