Forest Industry report-reax

The provincial government is pledging 350 million dollars to help stimulate new investment in northern Ontario.

Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay was in Thunder Bay
this morning to release the final report from the Council on Forest Industry Competitiveness.

Kenora mayor Dave Canfield was one of the 17 council members who drafted the report and admits he’s a little disappointed in the minister announcement.

Canfield says he would have liked to see the minister announce a relief package for the forest industry and cut
the gas tax for logging companies.

Ramsay has promised the province will release an action plan for the forest industry in the very near future.
