Forestry Consultation Held in Dryden

Community and forest industry leaders debated how to modernize Ontario’s forest tenure and pricing system at a public meeting in Dryden Tuesday night.
Delegates discussed what features of the current pricing system should be retained and what improvements are necessary.
The license, allocation and pricing system as well as the size of forest management units were also discussed.
Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry Spokesperson Brady Irwin says those in attendance made it clear that changes had to be made.
Another issue discussed was what role the Provincial Government should play in determining the amount charged for Crown timber.
The Dryden stop was the 4th out of 8 and you can provide feedback by going to ontario.ca/foresttenure.
