Forestry Giant Opens Dam Gates

Abitibi-Consolidated in Fort Frances has opened up gates at both Sturgeon Falls Dam and Calm Lake Dam due to extremely high water levels this week.
The company is issuing a warning to residents and property owners along the Seine River System.
Abitibi says the move will cause an increase in water levels along the system for at least the next few weeks.
The outflow of water could increase by more than 30 percent in some cases.
